Pokhara Metropolitan City has accorded priority to the conservation and promotion of local tourism in the changing context in the three-year periodic plan of the town.

The plan brought with the slogan of 'Prosperous Touristic Pokhara' has identified tourism as a means of serving the vision for sustainable and rapid development of the town while including 35 topics related to the plan and its thematic sectors as prepared by the commission. 

Also, the plan has laid a focus on the formulation and implementation of tourism policy and code of conduct so as to further promote local tourism and develop the city known for its touristic significance into a major tourism hub.

Besides this, literature, art,culture and entrepreneurship development are other issues, focused on this plan and further conveys the idea of developing the tourism business in a different way (in changed context) and promoting the city into a destination of modern tourism and a centre of knowledge, art and culture. 

The vice-chairperson of Pokhara Metropolis Urban Planning and Commission, Dr. Ramchandra Lamichhane, informed,' The three-year plan aims to transform the Metropolis significantly with the participation of people and advance towards building of a socialism- oriented society as envisaged by the constitution '. He again ensured that the metropolis was positive to play its role with utmost diligence in promoting the local heritages, languages, art, culture , religiously valuable resources and so on.

As per Dr. Lamichhane, the periodic plan holds emphasis on building inclusive physical infrastructures, creating sound scientific perspectives and safeguarding the rich culture and promoting the notion of safe city.
