The British Council Nepal and Waling Municipality, Syangja signed a letter of intent for a partnership based around whole school development to strengthened school policies and a committed workforce both within the schools and in local education offices.(Source: British Council Nepal social media page).
The MoU was signed between Mayor Dilip Pratap Khand and the country director Shahida MacDougall.As stated from the official statement of British Council, Nepal which says, 'The partnership will focus on school leadership, continuous professional development for teachers , active student engagement in project clubs, assessment and accountability mechanisms. On the other hand, the project will also aims to develop a cadre of effective trainers with the local government committing to use them for the continuous support of teachers'. Likewise, Mayor Khand was hopeful about the venture for improving the quality of education in the municipality as well as in bringing some necessary changes in the sector. Altogether for three years,the project will run whilst maintaining a focus on localisation of good practices and to be implemented further in 72 community schools with 56 basic schools , 16 secondary schools of this municipality.
