3 scammers held for fake charity frauds in Pokhara.

The arrestees of the scam- Eliza Basnet, 34, and Tek Bahadur Basnet, 32 , of Birtamode, Dhan Bahadur Century, 44, of Haldibari.

After being informed that, a team of three people in Pokhara while addressing themselves as the founder and members of a charitable trust named as Unique Volunteers Nepal, Dharan in the guise of collecting the donated money for the treatment of a 35-year-old kidney patient Chuda Bahadur Ruchal of Palpa district, were actually impostors, the police forces at District Police Office, Kaski on Wednesday arrested the trio from New Highway Staff Hotel and Lodge, Bijaypur, Pokhara Municipality-26 where the accused have been remanded to judicial custody for five days by District Court, Kaski under the Donation Act 2030 B.S.

Upon further investigation it was revealed that, the fraudsters had been duping people in the past too, where they were using 10 rented autos to travel to various districts including Kaski, Tanahu, Syangja, Dailekh, Sunsari, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Palpa , Chitwan , and others inorder to ask for money for the treatment of 12 patients,furthermore,said DSP Subash Hamal, the spokesperson at DPO-Kaski. Meanwhile, we seized Rs 4,06,406 as well as some receipts, leaflets from them, added DSP Hamal.
