The 76 km long Beni-Jomsom road connecting the trans-Himalayan district of Mustang with the other regions of Nepal via Myagdi district has been opened for vehicular movement after six days of disruption owing to a landslide in Kavre, Annapurna Rural Municipality-3 of Myagdi district.
The road construction work was partly blocked by the locals too,as per DSP Shyam Kumar Rai at District Police, Myagdi. After, the residents were given assurance for what they have asked for, related to the protection of vulnerable settlements and offering compensation to those residing in this area, as soon as possible whose houses had been severely damaged due to the landslide.The officials had agreed to appraise the damage or loss of land in the course of road expansion,and with that, the repairement work resumed on a Saturday evening. A meeting held on Friday was attended by Mustang's provincial assembly member- Mahendra Bahadur Thakali, Chief District Officer of Mustang- Srinath Poudel and Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari of Myagdi district respectively, among other officials.
