Delta variant(B.1.617.2) detected in Gandaki Province.

Issusing a release,Gandaki Province Health Directorate has confirmed the mutated form of coronavirus; Delta (B.1.617.2) across 5 samples of the infected patients of Gorkha and Syangja district.The test samples were screened at an international laboratory via National Public Health Laboratory who on June 14 had received the samples for testing.

The public health laboratory,Gandaki Province earlier had collected the swab samples wherin the variant has been detected in a 14-year-old boy and a 60-year-old man of Kaligandaki Rural Municipality,Syangja alongside two middle aged women(33 and 40 years) plus an elderly women aged 70-year-old of Barpark Sukikot Rurak Municipality,Gorkha respectively.

Moreover,the general public are requested to be more cautious plus alert since this type of COVID-19 virus is rather contagious than the other form of variants like alpha and kappa, pointed Navaraj Sharma,the coordinator of Gandaki Province Health Emergency Operation Centre.
