Chame,the headquarter of Manang district had made an appearance in the news for the reason that a lot of infrastructures as well as dozens of settlements were damaged by the incessant rainfall induced floodwater in the district.

The power supply in the government offices of Chame had been cut off since June 13 after the 42-kilowatt micro-hydropower station alongside the transmission lines were destroyed in the flash flooding. Because of the power outrage,many government services including electronic payment and other utilities depending on computer system were largely disrupted. 

In fact,the solar connection has been operated in the sixteen departments since yesterday with the aid of the state government,who on Saturday conveyed the four consignments of solar energy system to the offices in Chame. 

All the expenses were borne by the Provincial government in which a sum of NPR 4.31million was spent for shipping of goods worth Rs 1.9 million that comprises of a pair of 150-watt solar panels,two batteries and one inverter respectively. 

A meeting of Gandaki Province Disaster Management Committee chaired by CM Pokhrel on June 20 had decided to procure and dispatch the solar power to the flood-affected region of Manang district as per the public procurement process under special circumstances. 

The CDE of Ministry of Energy,Water Resources and Drinking Water,Haridatta Poudel,said that,though the items were gathered from Pokhara to Besishahar a day earlier,it got stuck due to the bad weather condition and then had been delivered once the weather cleared on Saturday.'
