The Western Region Hotel Association, Pokhara is calling government's attention to bring special programs along with tourism friendly policy for the upliftment of the area, saying that it has become the most affected due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus. They also want the government to deliver the anti COVID-19 vaccines on time.

Ahead of the budget announcement for the fiscal year 2078/79 BS, through an ordinance scheduled at 4 pm today, Bikal Tulachan the President of the Western Region Hotel Association has issued a press release calling for the revival of the tourism sector by initiating different ressurection programmes, and ease down the monetary policy as well as implement the provisions of electricity tariffs in the upcoming budget.
Tulachan mentioned that in the previous year the government had ensured to provide restoration programmes to the tourism entrepreneurs but the execution exceeded than the expected time period and now in this second wave of the pandemic, the sector being the most affected is already experiencing some hardships causing the displacement of around 20 percent entrepreneurs and 60 employees.
The association also wants to draw the local government's to take note on VAT, property and income tax deductions and in tariffs exemption too along with 50 % electricity discount plus limiting the special refinancing from Rs 50 million to Rs 100 million based on hotel's investment for the coming two years.
In particular, they want to establish a separate employment protection and tourism Hotel development funds in order to look out for most distressed hotels.
Since this industry is backed up by billions investment in which it serves as a means of employment to a lot of people who are leaning on, that's the reason the sector is hoping that the government will give them the needed priority in the upcoming budget and if not it shall lead to an extensive economic crisis.
Their other requests includes to make certain that the banking institutions will not compel the hotel industries to pay the dues and interests and grant soft loan offers specifically for those hotels which are being run in a rented building.
