The U.S. Embassy Nepal as a part of the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation has pledged to offer a grant of 28,500 US Dollars for the reconstruction of Lo Gekhar monastery in Mustang.
In the devastating earthquake of April 2015 , the monastery was badly damaged which is located at Lo-ghekhar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality, Mustang and holds greater significance as being known as one of Nepal's oldest Buddhist temple. The reconstruction phase will likely to be completed by 2023 as shared by Garrett Wilkerson- the Public Affairs Officer representing the embassy who was present during the launch of the project, yesterday. Similarly, other prominent people like Mahendra Thakaki - the assembly member of the Gandaki Province and Lopsang Somphe Bist- the chair of the rural municipality , among others also shared their insights on the redevelopment plan.
