Few minutes ahead of yesterday's (10 June) province assembly meeting,Chandi Prasad Aryal, the office spokesperson of the Chief of Gandaki Province, had issued a press release stating that, the rumours of CM Gurung resigning is completely untrue.
It seems that, those rumours came true when Gurung lost his position since he didn't receive the required number of votes as only 27 votes were garnered in his favour whereas 30 votes mostly from the opposition parties like Nepali Congress, CPN (MaoistCentre), Janata Samajbadi Party were against him.
As a matter of fact,The speaker of the provincial national assembly,Netra Nath Adhikari announced that the chief minister lost the vote of confidence wherein Gurung needed to secure at least 31 votes of trust.
Meanwhile, only 58 lawmakers were present in the state assembly, out of 60 members.Krishna Thapa of Rastriya Janamorcha Party didn't cast any vote and remained neutral.
Rajiv Gurung aka Deepak Manage, who was appointed as Youth and Sports Minister in Gurung's formed cabinet was absent in the Parliament. Earlier,Manange an independent candidate had given his support to the ruling party CPN-UML of Gandaki Province.
On top of that, Deepak Manage had given his resignation which has been approved by Gurung. It is to be believed that, Manange is now aiding the opposition party to form a new government. As per, MP Lekhbahadur Thapa of CPN-Maoist ,31 signatures including Manange has been collected so far to oust the Gurung led caretaker government.

Prithvi Subba Gurung , according to the constitutional provision had to face the vote of trust from the assembly members within a month of appointment. He was reappointed as the Chief Minister on May 12, after the opposition group failed to prove majority in forging a new government under the leadership of Nepali Congress. Earlier,Gurung had given his resignation on May 9, a day prior to the provincial assembly wherein a no-confidence motion vote was to be registered against him. On June 8, Gurung being the parliamentary leader of the biggest party in the Gandaki Province, had submitted his letter at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat.
The provincial chief Sita Poudel, has called out the parties to form a new government as per the Article 168(5) of Nepal's constitution.
Lawmaker Krishna Thapa, who refrained from the voting process earlier has been dismissed by his party again in terms of violating against the party's whip whereupon the party had voted against the ruling government. Previously,Thapa had been sacked from his position when he didn't support the party's decision. Not only that, he had filed a writ in the Supreme Court and was ordered to be reinstated from the Interim order of the Supreme Court until the final verdict is out.
