Gandaki Province Minister Khadka monitors taxicabs plying in Pokhara.

On Sunday, the Gandaki Province Minister of Physical Infrastructure, Urban Development and Transport Management had gone to inspect the taxis plying in Pokhara in a bid to monitor whether the fare is calculated using the taximeter or not.

Minister Kumar Khadka used 10 different taxis for travelling purpose at various locations around Pokhara and during his inspection found one cab driver demanding more money than the usual fare amount. Earlier the provincial government after forming a 10 point state fare recommendation committee had made a provision of the installation of meter boxes with bills and GPS in the cabs wherein the fare was adjusted for Rs 80 within a distance of 15 km and Rs 10 for every 200 meter where the decision was agreed by the operators forum and consumers, alike. Similarly, 1,646 taxis based in Pokhara have registered the meter system.
