A steep rise in the fruit import scenario of Nepal.

As shared by the officials of the Department of Customs to RSS, fresh fruits worth Rs 6.6 billions have been imported during the first 3 months of the fiscal year (2021/22). Furthermore, fruits like apples, oranges, mangoes, grapes and lemons constituted the top-most imported fruits category list.

The statistics also revealed that, apple marks the first spot for being the most imported one with the value priced at Rs 4.3 billion with oranges taking the second position at Rs 780 million and then followed by lemon in the third place at Rs 540 million. Likewise, grapes and mangoes worth over Rs 450 million have been imported. Besides this fruits, other items including the pineapple, avocado, watermelon, kiwi, pear, pomegranate have also been imported. Also, Nepal has been importing the varieties of fruits from many foreign countries, China, India, USA, Thailand, Uganda, Egypt, South Africa , Mexico , New Zealand, among others.
