As many as fity-two gharials that were reared at the Crocodile Breeding Centre located in the Chitwan National Park (Kasara) were released into three rivers namely Rapti, Narayani and Koshi respectively.
According to the assistant conservation officer who had given details about the matter to RSS, 20 each crocodiles have been released into Koshi river and Narayani river whereas 12 into Rapti river. Meanwhile, the breeding centre at present holds 450 crocodiles with 13 adults and 1 male crocodile while they have been planning to release 30 more crocodiles into the Rapti river in the next few days.
