Sonam Lhosar celebration.

On the occasion of Sonam Lhosar today, the Ministry of Home Affairs on yesterday had announced the decision to grant a public holiday across all the government and public offices nationwide.

This festival marks as the beginning of a new year for the Tamang community wherein it is usually celebrated on every Nepali month of Magh. Likewise, this year is the year of tiger as the community distinguishes the year into 12 cycles representing various animals like monkey, eagle, mouse, cat, cow, snake, horse, sheep, dog, bird, deer and tiger.
