The government has provided this year's Human Rights Prize to Shakti Samuha and advocate Shailendra Prasad Harijan.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba gave away the prize to a representative of Shakti Samuha, and Harijan amid a function held in the Capital City on Sunday. The awardees received Rs 111,111 each for the prize.
The Shakti Samuha was picked in honor of the organization for its roles in respect, protection and promotion of human rights played by working against trafficking in persons, rescuing victims and facilitating their return from abroad to support in their better livelihood.
