Poush 4, Kathmandu. The Nagdhunga tunnel project is facing problems due to lack of adequate budget for compensation. The new compensation has been fixed after the locals were not satisfied with the initially fixed compensation amount. However, the government's failure to release the required amount of compensation has added to the challenge of moving the project out of the tunnel.
According to the Department of Roads, the tunnel project under construction in Nagdhunga will require compensation of around Rs 1 billion 140 million. However, the Ministry of Finance has recently remitted only Rs. 300 million to the project. The Department of Roads is still waiting for the agreement of the Ministry of Finance, asking for more than Rs 700 million in compensation.
In order to link the road from Kalanki to Nagdhunga via Balambu, another flyover about 150 meters long has to be constructed. Even though the work of the foundation of the access road has started, the project has been hampered due to insufficient compensation.
