    For the first time in the United States, a person infected with an Omicron variant has died.

    An unvaccinated man living in Harris County, Texas has become the first person in the United States to die from an Omicron variant of the Covid-19.

    The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that as of December 18, 73.3 percent of newly infected cases in the country were caused by Omicron.
