Home bound owing to the COVID-19 lockdown, many women across the nation have been finding difficulties in accessing necessary menstrual resources like sanitary pads or tampons .
During last year's lockdown,shoppers with enough money stocked all the sanitary products once the shops were announced to be shut and to those people who couldn't purchase the items immediately were left with nothing as the shelves were entirely empty.
As for the students in most villages of Nepal, who depend on the schools to get menstrual products, since there is a limited number of pads available and partly due to financial constraints but now again since the institutions have been closed, they are compeled to use unhygienic measures like leaves or old clothes etc.
According to the study conducted in 30 nations as well as in Nepal by Plan International UK (2020), about 73% faced shortages of the menstrual resources while 54% found inflated prices of pads and tampons respectively.
Thus, there is a growing need for period products in our country, and during this difficult times , the implication of affordable hygienic reusable sanitary pads is a must when all our resources are lagging behind.
The eco friendly napkins which are a lot more comfortable as they are made of cottons than the disposable regular pads containing the dioxin a major pollutant causing cancer cells. They are also quite pocket friendly whilst costing within the range of Rs 100 to 150.
